Harpa is a magical place where music comes from every corner. What instrument is being played and where does the music come from?  

Musician Már Gunnarsson and his guide dog Max lead children and families in a listening game around the music hall and searching for the music. They will go through the various nooks and crannies, concert halls and corridors of Harpa in a fun search for musicians hiding here and there.

The listening game starts by Hljóðhimnar on first floor at 11:00 AM and at 13:00 PM and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Please note that the number of participants is limited and an adult must accompany each child. A ticket is booked for each child, each child ticket is accompanied by a maximum of two adults.  

Admission is free, but due to limited availability registration is necessary. Registrations open Monday 9th of November at 10:00 am.

Accessibility  

The event is accessible to everyone and specially designed for the visually impaired and the blind.  

The event is in Icelandic, with English translations possible.

Már Gunnarsson, musician and athlete, does not see his blindness as a disability. He wants to eliminate the term "disabled" and doesn't want to judge people for being different. He is a great role model, doesn't let anything stop him and excels in both sports and culture. Már is a particularly positive person, works hard and has a good sense of humor. He is an accomplished athlete and multiple Icelandic record holder in swimming in disability category S11, category for the blind. He was elected Athlete of the Disabled in 2019, Sportsman of Suðurnes 2019 and Suðurnes 'Man of the year' 2019. He is also the holder of the Kærleikskúlan in 2019. Már plays the piano, composes music and sings. He released the album Söngur Fuglsins in 2019, and in December 2019 he won Rás 2 Christmas song competition together with his sister Ísold Wilberg with the song, Jólaósk. He has also participated in Eurovision Song Contest semifinals in Iceland, song contests abroad and worked on television and radio programming.  

Sigrún Kristbjörg Jónsdóttir began her music studies at the Hafnarfjörður Conservatory, where she chose the violin and the trombone. After completing a BA from Codarts World Music Department in Rotterdam, we took study trips to Brazil as well as touring with various bands. After three years in a suitcase, she returned home and has been an active performer and arranger in the Icelandic music scene. In addition to her work as a performer, Sigrún teaches at Hafnarfjörður's music school, MÍT, as well as part-time teaching at the Iceland Academy of the Arts.

Sólveig Morávek is a woodwind player and instrument teacher. She started her music studies at the age of 5 on the recorder at Tónskóli Austur-Skaftafellsýslu but quickly moved on to the clarinet. She then went to the FÍH Conservatory of Music and completed her studies there in 2014. While studying the clarinet, she took the saxophone as an additional instrument and completed an intermediate exam in rhythmic saxophone performance and completed the music teacher training from the FÍH Conservatory in 2015. After she graduated from FÍH she several private lessons on the flute. She has played with all the main instrumentalists in the country and performed in many places, from classical to heavy metal and also participated in theater shows such as Cabaret with Leikfélag Akureyrar, Ronja Ræningjadóttir at the National Theater and Emil í Kattholti at the Municipal Theater. Sólveig started teaching in 2009 and has conducted a brass band since 2016, in addition to her duties as principal of the School Orchestra of Árbær and Breiðholt from January - August 2022.
